In “Taken 3,” reportedly the last of the trilogy, Liam Neeson reprises his role as Bryan Mills. This time the ex-CIA operative is accused of the murder he did not commit, and is chased by Inspector Franck Dotzler played by Forest Whitaker, while looking for the real murderer.

The script (written by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen) is just OK, something very familiar to action movie fans. The story is nothing original, like that of a typical straight-to-DVD action film. Liam Neeson does his best, as the ever-resourceful former agent, but the direction of Olivier Megaton (“Taken 2” “Transporter 3”) lacks the tension and thrills necessary to fully capitalize on his presence. The film’s rather choppy editing does not help.

Most of the principal characters from the original come back, with Maggie Grace as Bryan’s daughter Kim, and Famke Janssen as Lenore. Dougray Scott (replacing Xander Berkeley) also appears as Lenore’s husband Stuart.

This is a B action movie with A-list stars in it. “Taken 3” is a reasonably entertaining but a forgettable entry.
